Beginning of Year Information
Our first practice was Monday, September 13th at the Alaska Department of Fish and Game on College Road from 5-7 pm.
Students MUST have their contract signed, physical complete and turned in, and the Consent form signed and turned in (per ASAA regulations) to be able to attend practice.
We had an excellent turnout for the try-out times and it was very difficult to make the final selections. Students are encouraged to try out again next year, and work on the things I discussed with each person individually in preparation.
VERY IMPORTANT!!
Students and their parents MUST watch and have the TAD form signed (both parents and students must sign) and turned into me by Wednesday, September 29th in order to be eligible to compete.
The form is available at the school and on the website. Here is the link to watch the video.
TEAM FEE
The team fee ($275.00) is due October 6th. If you have not yet turned it in, please do so as soon as possible. We will be using it to pay for the ammunition and targets that we've ordered.
GO HAWKS!!
FIRST MATCH
Our first match is against Delta, on Saturday, October 2nd. We will be shooting the Air portion the previous Thursday (Sept. 30th) at TVSA and bringing the scores/targets with us.
The Varsity Team, managers, and 2 members from the JV team (who will serve as alternates should someone be unable to shoot) will travel by bus to Delta. There is no viewing area, therefore the rest of the team won't be going.
We will meet at ADF&G at 5:30 am, then board the bus at 6. It takes 2 hours by bus, so we'll have time to unpack, dress, set up etc. before the match. Please send some money for breakfast (or something nutritious for him/her to eat.) We will be eating lunch at Delta as guests of their team.
There are 5 shooting lanes at Delta, so we will be shooting in shifts. Therefore, please be sure your son/daughter also has homework and/or a good book to read while they are waiting for their turn.
Team members having cell phones are asked to bring them along since they will call when we leave Delta, and as we're coming to the North Pole area so that parents can be at ADF&G to greet us.
