First Annual High School Trap Shoot Invitational
We are excited about the First Annual High School Invitational Trap Day this Saturday, April 30, 2011, from 12-4 at the Fairbanks Trap Club (corner of Hagglebarger and the Old Steese- right across from St. Raphael's Church). Please note that Google Maps shows the location incorrectly.
There is no charge for the students- their ammo and round (clay birds) will be paid for by the Fairbanks Trap Club. Parents are also invited to try it out. If they've never shot at the trap club before, their first round is complementary. There is ammo available for purchase if parents need some. If you are bringing your own ammo, here are the required specs: nothing heavier than a 3 dram load of 7 1/2 or 8 shot (lead only, no 4 or 6 shot). We have loaner shotguns in 12 and 20 gauge, you are welcome to bring your own shotgun.
There is also the opportunity for students to sign up as a trap shoot league team this summer for no charge!!! The Fairbanks Trap Club (FTC) will be providing a limited number of youth shooters with shells and rounds--it's first come, first serve, so if our team wants to sign up for league, they should do so ASAP. Our kids could sign up Wednesday, April 27th from 6-9 or on Saturday.
Greg and I are providing a light lunch on Saturday, please bring water or soda if you'd like a beverage.
MAC Regional Rifle Competition December 3-4 (Friday and Saturday)
Each team (Hutchison, West Valley, Lathrop, North Pole, and Delta) will have 6 shooters. There will be 3 relays for air, and 3 for small bore (see times below). My understanding is that the relays will be mixed, meaning at least 1 shooter from each school on each relay.
On Friday, only those team members competing in Air Rifle will be dismissed from school at 11:15am to go to UAF. Students need to be completely ready to be on the line by 12:10. ALL team members (even if not competing) will be expected to be at Regionals for the match at the end of school day. On Saturday, all members should be in attendance. If they're not competing, they'll be encouraging and cheering their fellow teammates.
The relay lines have not yet been determined.
